Back in May, when the sun was shinning and the lambs were still playing in the fields, we did a wedding which was photographed by Simon John.
Jo and Nick popped into the shop armed with the most stunning wedding album - I think I said wow on more than one accassion whilst looking through the book. To say I was blown away is a little bit of an understatement. Here are just a few of the images that Simon kindly sent to me.

Last Sunday, Tim and Nicola hosted a wedding fair at Upwaltham Barns. We filled jugs and bowls with a lovely mixture of berries and roses and flowers from our cellar. Decorated hurricane vases and bird cages with hydrangeas and Vendela roses and not to forget the gorgeous floral arch. Do you have a favourite?
It rained, but still lots of people came to chat about their weddings. We also met the very talented Donal and Dex from Pollen. Splendid Days with their beautiful china. The wonderful Joanne Scott and her gorgeous Elegant Stationery. The lovely boys and girls of Hennings Wine Merchants (thanks for the bubbly guys).
Lets keep our fingers crossed for the sun to shine at the next fair at Upwaltham Barns.

It rained yesterday - a lot.
Rosie (the bride) said a special prayer in church, she must have been thrilled to wake this morning to an beautiful sunrise. Fingers crossed it keeps dry for the day.
The ceremony is to be held at St Mary's in Easebourne with the reception at Upwaltham Barns. I'll post more pictures soon.

A very romantic wedding at Upwaltham Barns. Back in February this year, on a day without snow, we did a wedding using David Austin roses. The scent from the roses is just so romantic.

I have been away for a week to a Summer School. I would highly recommend this to anyone. The venue was West Dean and the course was on how to compose a picture using the beast of a camera which I purchased only four weeks ago. Our brilliant tutor was Jacqui Hurst and her photography is enough to get anyone out of bed at 5 in the morning to snap the sun as it rises. I am not known as an early riser - but even I was excited about walking through the meadow with the mist rising to get some pictures at dawn. I will post these later in the week.
But whilst I was away making merry with my Nikon, work continued back at Spriggs Florist. Matthew was in charge of twitter and managed some witty comments on how the week was going. So a little later than usual I am catching up on our blog.

Once again I made Ellen model the bouquets which were made using the pretty Shanghai phalanopsis orchid.
I love the heart in the centre of the window - it just says it all.
The urn in the ceremony barn at Upwaltham is perfect for summer garden flowers.
Sarah modelled this compact bouquet of all white roses - if Sarah were to get married again I could see her wearing a gown by Alice Temperley and waft about with a bouquet of all roses.
Petal and Clara are requesting a mention in today's blog as they are feeling a little left out. Clara is back from her sea side residence and enjoying being back in Petworth. Petal is just happy to have her mummy back home.
Are you listerning to The Archers - we are loving the storyline with Alice and Chris marrying on holiday and Jennifers reaction - priceless.

A couple of Saturday's ago Tom and Jo say "I do" at Upwaltham Barn. The sun shone and the gardens were beautiful. It really is a very lovely place to get married. I clicked away with my little pocket camera and was quite proud of the pictures that I had taken - that was until I saw the stunning images that Sara Reeve.

Saturdays at Spriggs are always interesting. Two weddings required delivery at the same time, colour coded boxes, labels with descriptions for the who, what, when and why question session. Instructions for pinning on buttonholes - always useful. Matthew draws the line with me and post it notes - I do like to be organised. Next weekend's brides confirming table numbers and final details, whilst frantic phone call letting me know that two extra tables have appeared at one of the reception venue - a quick chat with MOTB and hey presto two more jugs appear to be filled with peonies and roses.
Then its jump in the car, camera in hand to help do the finishing touches for the table flowers at Upwaltham Barn and see one of my Brides. Jo is seated on the bedroom floor, blusher brush in hand when I arrive, carrying boxes of beautiful bouquets for her and the bridesmaids. This is when I know how much I love my job. From the first meeting last winter when I met Jo and her husband-to-be Tom, to talk about their summer dream wedding, to delivering the finished bouquets and arrangements.
At the barn we met with Sara Reeve, who like me was busy taking pictures - unlike mine, her pictures will be full of life and movement - I always like seeing our work photographed by a professional, they're always just so good at it. I will post some images from Sara when she sends them to me next week.
I love the Wedding Car.
The registrar's table had two clusters of terracotta pots filled with summer flowers and panicum fountain grass and foliages from our gardens.
The top table was decorated with buckets and terracotta pots with peonies, roses, lysimachia and summer flowers to give that 'I've just been to the garden and picked this' look.
The guest's tables were just as pretty, with larger terracotta pots and wonderfully scented stocks. It wasn't long before the perfume filled the barn - along with the hog being roasted outside.
So for now, that will be all. Need to do shopping for the pic-nic lunch tomorrow, we're off to Sissinghurst to see the white garden. So much nicer than watching the football.

It was a truly beautiful summer day on Friday, perfect for saying "I do" and sipping champagne.
The second of our weddings was held at the Upwaltham Barns in a pretty blue and white colour scheme. Rebecca carried an elegant posy of ivory vendela roses, which Matthew finished with foliages from his garden.
The doors into the ceremony barn were decorated with trailing ivy and foliages, with lovely fat blue hydrangeas and cornflowers.
The beams inside the barn were wrapped in ivy, with heads of hydrangea and roses. The tables had mossed bowls filled with summer flowers - all very soft and romantic.
The cake was simply decorated with rose petals and hydrangea florets.
Planning has commenced for next weekend's events - weddings, parties and any excuse to have vases filled with peonies.
It's gardening tomorrow as Matthew is opening his garden on the 20th June, for The Secret Gardens in aid of The Red Cross. It's great fun looking around each others gardens, there are some real gems to be seen. We also need to catch up with The Archers, have a spot of lunch with a glass of something chilled - possibly even with bubbles in (just hope the BBC is wrong and that the thunder clouds stay away).

As promised, Part 2 of "I would like my flowers to have that just picked from the meadow look..."
The bridal flowers boxed and delivered, jugs on tables and ivy attached to every chair and doorway, its time to post the second part of this blog.
Jo and Nick's wedding has been fun from the moment we met - even if Jo did make me watch the Channel 4 programme with Monty Don and Blooming Green (I will forgive Jo at some point in the future, just not yet). Being able to use lots of summer English flowers is always a joy - the bluebells and cow parsley are locally grown, the herbs from the garden and the clematis seed heads from Rebecca's garden.
The ceremony and reception is to be held at Upwaltham Barn, which is a lovely venue just between Petworth and Chichester, with wonderful views across the South Downs and has the most beautiful gardens.
Just one more wedding to do today, then it's back to table arrangements for Goodwood House for a gala dinner tomorrow night.
Hope the sun stays with us for the weekend. Take walks in dappled shade, drink plenty and just be gorgeous in every way.

Our bride and groom for tomorrow's wedding have been such fun to work with and have certainly redefined 'chic' style for me. Here is a sneaky preview of the flowers for the top table, an eclectic mix of jugs filled with cow parsley, bluebells and yellow ranunculus.
I will of course post more images after the wedding.
As the camera was in hand, or more to the point on the tripod in Matthew's garden, I just had to take a couple of shots.
I just love all the shades of green.
Apologies for the shortness of this blog - but I'm full of cold and want to go home to curl up on the sofa with Petal as my nurse maid - fat chance.
